Postdoctoral Resource Office
The University of Kentucky has long recognized the invaluable contributions made by our postdocs to the exciting biomedical research conducted here. Our efforts to make UK one of the best places to pursue postdoctoral training have been recognized at the national level. In a "Best Places for Postdocs" survey conducted by The Scientist. The University of Kentucky was ranked tenth among all research universities. the top-ranking institutions were found to possess a common culture of collaboration and a commitment to teaching, as well as an emphasis on training and career counseling. In order to promote this culture and help ensure postdocs have an optimal postdoctoral training environment, in 2002, the UK College of Medicine established the Postdoctoral Resource Office. The Postdoctoral Resource Office also provides information and resources to faculty and staff seeking to assist these scholars.
Postdoctoral Resource Office provides the following services:
- Postdoctoral Career Development Seminar Series
- Postdoctoral Research Seminar Series
- Annual Postdoctoral Poster Session
- Welcome packet and individual orientation
- The UK College of Medicine Postdoctoral Resource Office (UKCOMPRO) provides a Postdoc Welcome Packet for new postdocdoctoral scholars and fellows. The packet includes information about the University of Kentucky, the UK College of Medicine, Lexington and a brochure listing upcoming events for postdocs. All new postdocs who register on the Postdoctoral Web site are automatically sent a Postdoc Welcome Packet.
